JAKARTA, May 21, 2026 – The management of Discovery SCBD Jakarta today officially expressed its pride and highest appreciation for the trust extended by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Indonesia, which selected the hotel as the venue for the international cultural event titled “Tea for Harmony, Shared Beauty”.
The event, fully initiated and organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, was held today, Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Gallery Room on the 3rd Floor of Discovery SCBD Jakarta, in conjunction with the celebration of International Tea Day.
The “Tea and the World” initiative represents a cultural diplomacy concept introduced by President Xi Jinping, positioning tea as a universal medium of communication to strengthen dialogue, encourage cultural exchange, and promote the value of “harmony in diversity” on the international stage. The program was carried out by Mingbao Ji Tea Industry (PT JQC Investment Indonesia) and supported by prominent academic and professional partners, including the Indonesian Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, the Confucius Institute of Al-Azhar University Indonesia, and EF Language School, with additional support from Xiamen Airlines Indonesia, Yong’an Pharmaceutical Indonesia, and Takokak Tea Indonesia (Indonesian Heritage Tea).

The International Tea Day celebration welcomed approximately 80 VIP guests, including ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from 18 friendly nations across Asia and other tea-producing countries worldwide, such as Myanmar, Kenya, Türkiye, and Indonesia. Official delegates from several Indonesian government institutions were also in attendance, including representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transmigration, and the National Museum of Indonesia.
Throughout the day, invited guests enjoyed a curated series of activities, including honorary speeches from delegates, an official opening ceremony, an exclusive lecture on the history of Chinese tea culture, traditional art performances, a robotics innovation showcase, demonstrations of intangible cultural heritage, and a warm networking session accompanied by a selection of premium teas served throughout the afternoon.
